Luckily, it is currently on sale on Steam at 33% off until the 23rd of May. If you’ve played games like Super Meat Boy and need a new fix, this game is definitely for you. That said, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this game to casual players or people who don’t like puzzle games. It offers new puzzle mechanics that are a welcome change from traditional puzzle features in games.ĭimension Jump: A must-have title for puzzle addictsĭespite its minimalistic style and limited graphics, I can easily recommend this game to hardcore puzzle fans that are looking for a nice challenge thanks to its imaginative gameplay and difficulty. I had a lot of fun with the game during my test run and I will definitely return a few times to play some of the harder levels or to create a devilish level myself.

Imagine it being a lovechild between Super Meat Boy and Portal. The game does not tell a story, it simply challenges through its level design. It is a pure and simple game without any baggage or weird features. The engaging gameplay mechanics, high scores, level editor, and nice soundtrack are what the game has to offer. You hear a high-pitched bouncy noise every time you jump or a buzzer sound when you touch one of the red zones that immediately kill you. The rest of the sound effects are as minimalistic as the graphics are. During my playtime I gradually fell into a kind of trance, becoming one with the game with the music being my mantra. It has catchy tunes with quick and upbeat tempo that suit the high-intensity and complex gameplay. It didn’t take long for me to appreciate the game’s music. The game even offers a level editor to create your own impossible stages, and the community has already produced some terrific (and at times brutally unforgiving) content. The fun doesn’t stop there, as there are online rankings you can try to conquer. I mostly kept my cool throughout the game, although it was frustratingly hard at times, but that’s just how these puzzle games tend to be. It should take you roughly 2-4 hours depending on how good you are to see all stages. Because the gameplay is so addictive, you’ll likely have a hard time putting the game down, as every stage completed means another new and intriguing challenge is coming right up.

The game offers up to 90 stages that will keep you constantly engaged. Levels become mind-boggling and hard to analyze as the game starts giving you multi-layered stages that test your patience and skill. The more you advance, the slower your progress will become. The game makes sure you understand basic concepts from dimension changing to teleporting before throwing it all together in later levels. The difficulty increases gradually, and never really feels like it increases too quickly. The more stages you go through, the more you need to analyze and plan your moves ahead of time before executing them with perfect precision if you’re to succeed. Suddenly there are different traps and obstacles in your way. This means you can switch between the current dimension and a negative one, so everything that was white before is now black, totally changing the structure of the level. There are also other keys like the Z key that you use to, for example, change dimensions on the fly. You control your block with your keyboard, using the arrow keys to move right/left and jump. You control this small block and navigate through increasingly devious stages that test your precision and timing. As you can see, the gameplay is straight forward.
